Why are bills from BG so infrequent?

I just wish they made it easier / possible to supply your meter reading at regular intervals. I still take them every month but it is impossible to actually submit them if they know you have a smart meter. .
On the website I log into my account, hover the mouse over the my account option top right and that then presents a big drop down menu which has a very large Submit meter reading option and I can submit a reading.

In the app I log in and there is a big button bottom right saying readings, press that and I can submit a reading.

This is with a smart meter, so not sure how much easier they could make it, certainly for me.
Fair enough but that still doesn't give you a monthly bill. I moved to Octopus simply because the BG billing system was so bad. Six monthly billing is a joke.

Now just waiting for my credit balance to be refunded.
If it’s anything like my recent switch, expect them to take the full 6 weeks to regularise your account, and to issue separate invoices for electric and gas at different times, so you won’t actually know how much you are in credit (or not) until about a month after the switch.

they reported me as being in credit for 4 weeks after the switch until they issued the final gas bill against the account and I then ended up about ££400 in debit.  They also weirdly skipped a month of direct debit, then took a random payment of about £160 which didn’t seem to relate to anything, and then they finall took a closing pay,ent 6 weeks to the day after the switch date.

I left BG in 2018 because I was coming to the end of their free electric plan, they used to bill me every month on that plan.
If BG customers have to wait 6 months for a bill to be produced then unless they have a DD that accumulates enough money over the 6 monthly period then they will increase the DD. When I left BG I only owed them £14 and they took this within 7 days of me leaving them.
Someone please tell me what money is

I'm with B Gas for electricity, no smart meter. They e-mail me every three months asking for a meter reading which I provide immediately and they produce an accurate bill based on that reading within two hours.  Given that my account number was changed about 18 months ago I presume I'm on their latest system.
  • Some time ago (Nov 2020) I was moved to BG (ex Robin Hood) and I found the only way to give meter readings was to log out of your Acc (or not log in) and do it on the BG Home page, entering your customer number and address. This probably went on for six months or so.
Stupid I know, but discovered by accident while exploring to find out what the hell they were up to and how to contact them.
  • Got moved to the new accounting system a couple of days back. At the moment there is less information than there was before. Installed the new app and have only managed to get into once so far after I first installed it.  Now it just hangs and doesn’t go beyond the splash screen!
