I don't want all the hassle of fitting a smart meter and no real benefits.
I already advised my energy provider concerning the meter locations when they say they want to fit a smart meter. There was a lull, but now they are pushing it again.
I thought I would first check to see if there was any tech improvement for meters a significant distance apart.
From the comments, it appears that a smart meter may still not work properly in my case.
They will continue to push one, however.

If they fit a smart meter and it doesn't communicate, you should just be in the same position you presumably are now - needing to read the meter and send the readings in.0
