Company: EDF. Smart meter installed July 2023. Engineer informed me it should display gas & electricity usage. The gas reading isn't there (the smart meter not "talking" to main meter.) EDF haved made 3 appointments to correct this. No engineer has called me or shown up. EDF unaware of why. Consequently the gas usage still being estimated. Have raised a complaint with EDF. Anyone had similar issues? Is the prodcedure described the only one open to me or should I just change supplier? Obviously don't wish to cause myself anymore hassle!

Are you talking about the IHD (In home display) or the ACTUAL gas meter ?
What was the reading on the actual gas meter when it was installed and what is it today ?
You'll have to press a few buttons on the meter to find out.
In your online My Account are the gas readings showing as estimates on the Energy Hub page ?0 -
I think you are talking about the IHD - In House Display - the Smart Meter is in an Outdoor Meter Box or garage.
Can you read the Smart itself OK and can you enter this reading online ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

If the meter is not sending readings either put the readings in on the send them readings part of their website or email them with your name and address plus the meter readings. Keep doing this every month until the smart meters send them readings.Someone please tell me what money is1

We've got similar issues with our meter installed via Eon (Sainsbury Customer). The electricity readings are working fine, as per billing, but we haven't been billed for gas since June. Fortunately it'll be low and we are in credit, but no response from Sainsburys as of a month ago. I'll have to go through the email route as we can no longer submit meter readings via the customer portal as we have a smart meter.0

My IHD never worked. However, the one supplied by EDF was basic and I bought a Bright IHD and use which worked straight away. I didn't bother dealing with EDF over it as I wouldn't have used the IHD they supplied anyway.
The smart meter will be working. Its just your IHD isn't. I'm surprised the installers they sent out the three additional times didn't explain this to you.

I am in a 3rd-floor flat. My gas meter is outside and at ground level, which is 26 feet vertically then 36 feet horizontally away from my internal electric meter. There are 3 intervening walls.
Will a smart meter work? Is there a maximum distance of separation between the external gas meter and the internal electric meter?
Is there a maximum distance of separation for the IHD?
I am in Scotland is it the same signal system that is used?
My meter is 9 years old. If a smart meter will not work in the above situation is there any point in getting one at the moment?
