Hello all

So, at last minute my partner decided to join me for a city break in Estonia. We couldn't get her the same flight back, so had to go for a flight that involves a self-transfer. 1 hour 45 minute layover. We won't have any checked baggage.

I've done a self-transfer before, and it was absolutely fine, but wanted to do everything I can to make sure it goes smoothly.

I know some airports have an airside transfer facility, but all the official information on various websites is rather non-committal as to whether she'll have to go all the way out then all the way back in through security again. Any thoughts?

One specific question I have is which travel insurance provider will cover us if the first flight is delayed and she doesn't have enough time to transfer...?

Thanks for any advice!

My memory of Stockholm Arlanda from last year is that airside all terminals are joined together.
I can't comment on the arrival procedure from an EU member state though as I arrived in on a flight from STN and was funneled through a passport check area upstairs on arrival and then straight into baggage reclaim, with no opportunity to go anywhere near the airside area

Managed to get through to a person on the airport's chat function and they're saying yes...

Any thoughts on the insurance point, just in case?

Bear in mind you'll have to go through passport control in Arlanda as you'll be entering Schengen there, and it can be slow, last time I entered Sweden (though not Arlanda) passport control took ages with them giving every non EU passenger the third degree about where they'll be staying, and I had to prove I had a return flight.
But 1h45 min should be enough unless the first flight is delayed, you'll need to check your insurance policy, most will cover for missed connections but they could argue you didn't allow enough time for contingencies, check your policy wording.

Will non-Schengen to non-Schengen even enter the Schengen area if staying airside?

Probably not but OP is going to Estonia via Sweden who are both in Schengen, therefore will enter Schengen in Sweden.
