Not possible to get bt sport on discovery plus because my you view box is obsolete

Bt will only provide upgraded tv box if i renew my contract  but i have a year left of my contract with them to provide me with bt sport that i pay £18.00 a month for. It feels like bt is forcing all you view box owners to renew their two year contract just to keep the service  they are already paying for. Is this legal?

Point of pedantry, it's now TNT Sport and not BT Sport.

What do you need a new BTTV set top box for ?,  AFAIK, TNT Sport,  replacing BT Sport hasn’t changed as far as a BTTV box is concerned , ( same place on the EPG etc ) , are you saying your current BTTV box that got BT Sport, doesn’t get the TNT Sport channels ? ( my non BTTV pro box gets the TNT sport channels in the place BT sport was ) ,
if you want a BT set top box that has Discovery + built in , rather than using an app on a tablet ,firestick or other some other device you supply yourself , then it doesn’t seem unfair to expect some thing in return , either paying for the box, or a new contract
