My friend is divorced and has bank, credit cards phone contracts in married and maiden names.

They would not be able to switch an account from the married to the maiden name. Any name mismatch stops a CASS switch.

Frankly it is simpler to hold assets in the one name that is on your passport and on the electoral roll.2 -
For burner accounts I’ve always used Starling Bank. Easy to apply online, decently quick to issue the debit card and most importantly only a soft credit check means no impact on credit score unlike some others.0

This so called phase “burner account” has a criminal connotation ring to it. You all see it in the movies when criminals use "burner" mobile phones for nefarious reasons. Just saying..

A lot of the regulars call them "donor" accounts these days. Doesn't help when MSE refers to them as burner accounts in all the newsletters, etc.At least it's better than when MSE used to refer to them as "mule" accounts...8 -

You really don’t need to mention this to me. It’s a phrase that suppose to be cool or hip and is mimic from the movies. As for “It's only a word. And movies aren't real” this can open pandora’s box, trust me on that one.
