I booked a flight with Ryanair with my wife and 2 kids, I pre-purchased a large bag. It was one single booking for all of us.

I couldn't fly because I had to help with a family medical emergency.

When my wife got to the airport Ryanair wouldn't let her check in the bag as it was under my name on their system and, as I wasn't travelling in the group, they couldn't check in the bag. My wife had to pay for a new bag at Ryanair airport prices.

Is this right? Can I ask them to refund the price of the bag as we had already purchased it?

I wrote to Ryanair and they said all items were non-refundable and they would never refund the second cost.

It feels unfair to me. Any suggestions?
