Ooh it's fancy over here in the MFW area innit, good job I brushed my hair and put on my best dress π Seriously though, many congratulations on your new diary, new home, and new endeavour.

Your new house sounds lovely - particularly like your kitchen/living space and the sparkly counter...Β
Good luck in your MFW space. Glad you were able to get such a good deal - I assume that was linked to your low loan to value ratio - really impressive regardless. I'm sure you will soon kick that mortgage into touch. Impressive monthly savings too.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality by mid 2030

Happy New Home @EssexHebridean and Mr EH.Β I've been following your existing diary avidly but rarely post myself.Β Have bookmarked your new thread so hope to keep up.Β We're mortgage and debt free now but must admit sometimes I wish I had more financial challenges like in the old days when we had debt and a high interest mortgage!Β Not really.

RIP Mum & Dad - thanks for helping me on my journey to be
Debt and Mortgage free from 20183 -
Thank you lovelies - I'm really touched that so many of you have subscribed, it's lovely to feel that people are interested in my little ramblings!Β
SH The interest rate was a combination of things - the low LTV because yes, we are firmly below the "best" option of 60%, but also the timing - that rate was pulled less than 24 hours after we applied for it and would have been another 0.3% higher had we done the application the following day!
PiP I will try to remember to photograph the bench in-situ once it finally arrives - however it is this one:Β https://www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk/furniture/london-underground-moquette-furniture/moquette-seating/moquette-bellagio-bench-100cm but in the Elizabeth Line design which we both love.Β
It does feel very odd to have MFW as the board location at the top of my diary after all this time! Β
Yesterday evening was fairly chilled as neither of us felt like doing a huge amount after being at work all day. We did get our new standard lamps put together though - they are now sitting one in the living room, and one in the front room - I need to acquire some more E27 bulbs as I only had the one. I also had a quick Swish round the kitchen, including an exploratory polish of the sparkly worktop which is now even more sparkly!Β Β
MSE Stuff:Β
- The Lamps were a penny under Β£40 each and absolutely perfect for the spaces - they even echo some rather lovely ironwork that features elsewhere in the house which is a nice touch - only B&Q, but we didn't expect to find anything that well priced so that was a win.
- Banks checked and all fine - I have swept a penny from one of my personal accounts to the VSP - well it all helps!
- managed to find the "magic eraser" sponge I was after in the Land of Pounds yesterday - goodness knows why they have suddenly become so hard to find! While I was in there a dishmatic and refills, and an extendable duster also fell into my basket - so far I'm not so impressed with the dishmatic but we'll see once I've given it another go. The duster will live upstairs - I need to find a receptacle for a small cleaning kit to live up there I think.
- Just claimed Β£12.47 from Prolific so need to remember to shuffle that to the Gym Neutral fund - although right now the most neutral thing about it is that I'm not getting to the gym!Β
- Food still under control even if the planning is a little "seat of my pants" - butternut squash & chickpea curry this evening, which will use half a carton of passata - I'll freeze the other half.
- Mum has offered me her garden lounger and cushion which is fab - she's not used it this year and doesn't think she will again as she struggles to get up from it again and has visions of stranding herself! It wasn't something I was thinking of purchasing immediately but would probably have wanted eventually so a definite win.Β Β
Planned spendiness:
- Still need some more storage/organisational stuff - either HB or BandM I think for those.Β
- Need to order the lampshade for the bedroom although I think we have agreed on one now at least...Β
- LightbulbsΒ
- Doorstop for the front door - this has been ordered from Scr3wf1x as we wanted the same as we had at the flat.Β
Small list of things to do tonight:
- MrEH to clear his clutter off the bathroom windowsill
- Give the loo another scrub to see if the limescale is shifting after another full-day soak in limescale remover - if not I will try white vinegar on toilet roll tomorrow
- Hooks to be applied to bathroom door for dressing gowns/towels
- check that everything that is needed for the vod@f0ne router is in one place and shift that back to the front room as that is where it will need to be we think.Β
- One load of washing through ready to go on the line first thing tomorrow - it's bedding and will dry in no time tomorrow I suspect!Β
- probably try to get the last couple of boxes in the living room sorted out, and the spare dining chairs upstairs somewhere - not sure yet where those are going to live...Β
I think I will want a list for tomorrow as well - although in part it is going to be about getting a Friday routine together. MrEH will be travelling into London so it won't quite be "normal" Friday but not so far off. Mum is also popping round at some stage, and I really want to get in to town to hand in the garage key back to avoid any more charges on that...Βπ MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 π And now we go againβ¦New mortgage taken 01/09/23 π‘

Oh that bench is lush, good choice on Elizabeth Line. I'm torn between General Standard, Coachworks Forest, and Old District Red. Maybe one of each depending on the room colour scheme. Now all I need is a house π
That's nice of your mum, what a mse way to celebrate a new garden!4 -
Love the bench and it'll look great in Liz Line moquette!Β
You could try citric acid on the limescale - they sell boxes in BnQ. The advantage over vinegar is that you can use warm water with it so it makes it more effective (swoosh as much water out of the loo as possible with the brush, pour down some warm water and chuck in the citric acid crystals). We have terrible hard water here and it works a treat.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! Β£132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
