That's terrible about Canon, definitely brand switch, and put your experience on TrustPilot and Canon's website if possible
Big eek to the car estimated cost, no-one needs that! At least you have your other car though not ideal.
Can you have a big omelette for a dinner to use some eggs up? And if you're away/out and about then a fry up/egg sarnie to set you right for the day is breakfast of champions

EEEEEEk to Canon being less than reasonable!
For the eggs, in the past (pandemic times) we've cracked and scrambled 4 at a time the poured into zippy bags to freeze. Defrost at room temp then cook into scramble or omlette. Can also do them 2 at a time for baking cakes or quick breads. Always cooks up fine and saves wasting any. (Oh the things you learn when the only eggs available come in flats of 60!)

I was also going to suggest whipping them up and freezing in ziplock bags ready to make omelettes, quiche, scrambled eggs or even to add to cakes.

Although I don't recommend using eggs past their BB date, we discovered that my late MIL was eating them weeks later than the date. She never had any ill effects & lived to 109!

I keep my eggs in an egg tray & have no idea of the BB date. If I think there may be a problem I just do the float test. It has never let me down.

Hey all! Yes - as soon as mine get to the BB I ALWAYS do the float test! I can't imagine that eggs that are old would do you any harm as such, it's just they tend not to taste anything like as nice at that stage I find, so not as worth eating!
It's occurred to me that we could even take them with us to use while we're away - egg butties are definitely an option at that stage, so I'm not really sure why I was concerned about them now I think about it! Ah well - we've dealt with some anyway - pasta salad last night had eggs as the protein, and we've had egg mayo rolls for lunch today as well.
Also have no idea why I hadn't thought about cracking, beating and freezing - honestly, I cleary need to post regularly on a forum where people post about such things! 😆
PiP - I've never been so tempted to brand-switch - but it's not as easy as that sadly, something which Canon are well aware of. It's not only that camera - it's the lens that goes with it, and several other cameras and lenses of the same brand. My original aim was to get a second mirrorless camera as my backup, and then gradually change all my lenses to the new mirrorless mount (rather than needing to use them via an adapter) over time - changing everything in one go - which is the only real option if changing brands, is going to cost me a lot more money than I'd like, and I think than I'm willing to pay. I am pretty set on the second mirrorless body being 2nd hand not new now though, so that will at least be a bit less money in Canon's pocket! I'm already posting on a relevant FB group about the issue - Trustpilot isn't a bad shout although I do need to consider whether I risk causing myself issues in the future if I have kit needing repair or service.
The car thing is indeed ouchy - we're ignoring it for the moment, but that won't work for long!
