The beauty of the IP for rice is you can leave it - no supervision required. And delay start works well too. I don’t bother for porridge, I use the microwave. But I love it for cooking beans without having to soak (better to soak as it massively cuts cooking time, but I’m not always that organised!) It makes a mean daal too.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Late to the party here, but I couldn't agree more re delivery companies. What drives me mad is the fact that as the buyer, you don't get an option. Y*d*l changed its name to *vr*, so toxic was its reputation. The tracking system (inaccurate to the point of being a total fantasy, to be polite) used was apparently developed for and rejected by the PO as totally unfit for purpose. What infuriates me is that our money (as delivery is usually extra) is being used to keep companies afloat where if we had a proper choice, they'd have to improve or go under. Not my normal economic stance at all (left- of-centre spoiler alert!); but the incompetence amounting to abuse has brought me to this point...I'll get my coat. Love Humdinger xx8

How good a delivery co is seems to depend on where you are. The Evri person here is great well on time etc. The delivery co we used to used when I worked was good but if somethiing was going near York send via PO because over half the parcels used to go missing. The worst near here is Amazon, but all the others tend to be local deliverers whereas Amazon come from all over & the satnav near here is absolutely useless so not all their fault, I just wish some of them would read the instructions.

I hear a lot of unfavourable comments about Evri but they are brilliant in my area as are the other delivery companies apart from the company who deliver for Ald! who are dire, can’t remember their name, not one of the mainstream ones.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Our standard delivery Evr1 lady is great - this is the frustrating thing. It’s the “large items” side of things that are the problem for us. We know from experience that they deliver when suits them, hence on this occasion with the watery Cumbrian company - who they told they were intending to deliver the next day instead. In fact yesterday morning there was no notification from them to confirm they were delivering at all - that appeared (oddly enough) an hour after I placed a call with said Cumbrian shop’s customer service, and made them aware of the issues. Apparently at that stage they had been told that it would be “Saturday morning at the latest” - except that this particular delivery company don’t do large item deliveries in this area at weekends at all! In this instance, once they had been told by their customer that they WERE to deliver today, they sent it on the standard delivery vehicle, and it promptly turned up just before lunchtime. So, the multi cooker has landed! Got used last night in air fryer mode - I suspect this may be where it will see a fair bit of its use - for sausages and chips (I think it’s the law that air fryer type devices must be used for chips on first use, no?! 😆), and we were mightily impressed with the results. Beautifully cooked sausages - golden on the outside and still beautifully juicy inside - and crisp, crunchy chips. I cooked the sausages first, whipped those out, cooked the chips then added the sausages back in for the final couple of minutes to heat back through and that worked perfectly. Looking forward to trying out some of the other functions in due course - might just perhaps give “roast” a try tomorrow with a rolled lamb breast - we’ll see.Swung into M’s yesterday for the first bits of the weekly shop - and to use that £10 voucher I managed to forget last week. Basmati rice at £16 for 10 kg caught my eye, and as basmati was on my list anyway, and we know that this particular brand is exceptionally tasty, I opted to pick that up while it was at a lower price than our usual supermarket own brand. Today we will head to Lil’s, and then to Sainbugs as we want to go into the town centre anyway and that facilitates free parking with just a short walk across.Planned spendiness for the weekend will be the regular shopping, my deodorant refills in town (annoying the cheapest they are available at the moment is not the cheapest they sell at, but I do need to buy so…) and probably some more yarn for my blanket - I always knew I would need more, and I want to stick with the same colour palette I’ve been using, although may well pop into the charity shops locally before I order to see if there is anything viable anywhere before buying “new”. I may also stop in at Primarni to have a look at their wire free bra options - they have been recommended to me as being decent but I definitely want to try before investing! Two loads of washing done yesterday - the second of which is now on the line drying in the sunshine - and currently we are sitting out in the garden too, enjoying the very unseasonably warm temperatures! We plan to borrow Mum’s mower tomorrow I think to give the grass what will likely be its final cut of the year.Have a cheerful weekend all!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

oooo - Fabulous work on getting them to deliver as promised EH! - must file that technique away for the next time something (other than from the big river) does not arrive when promised!
Also well impressed with the gadget's inaugural use! - OH has been eyeing one up for some time, but I'm convinced it will turn him into a lazy cook
