Happy Christmas Eve all! Hope everyone is starting to enjoy a nice relaxing time and has themselves all organised. We are mostly I think - still some present wrapping to do, that will be either this afternoon or this evening. I also want to pop out later and get one last thing for Mum, that will probably be an “on foot” visit to the retail park though I think.Cooking wise I need to make up and bake a dish of stuffing, and assemble pigs in blankets and get some of those cooked as well - some will go to Mum’s tomorrow to have with lunch.I must remember to get the second sourdough out of the freezer - that is earmarked for breakfast toast, plus Boxing Day sandwiches - and also the tubs of red cabbage and bread sauce that will be going to Mum’s.Food wise we seem to have plenty - we probably will pop to Al’s this afternoon to see if there are any bargains to be had but I have to say I rather doubt it, although they are closed on Boxing Day too last year our store had managed their dates pretty well. Very cheap bread is a possibility though so we’ll have a look at that, anyway. Also just need to give consideration to whether there is any more of the cheap veg I might want, although if so that might need an earlier in the day trip as from experience they revert the prices back to normal from mid afternoon.
MSE stuff:
- MrEH was paid yesterday - that has been shuffled to another account where it can earn interest for a week
- grocery account is squeaky but doable depending on bargains found later. There is slack in the Christmas account to sub it anyway as only the turkey has been taken from there so far.
- visited the garden centre on Sunday to get a planter for Mum - and the lovely lady in there gave us one of the three Cyclamen we’d also chosen for free which was very sweet of her.- food today will involve some 8p sprouts at lunchtime I think. Tea tonight will be leftover picky bits from Sunday plus some other odds and ends - a good use of resources to get those bits finished!- super cheap electricity on Sunday meant I got a lot of the Christmas cooking done at a very low cost - two batches of mince pies, a batch of sausage rolls and a few other bits as well, plus we heated the house using electric as it was miles cheaper than the gas we’d have used otherwise so another win.Plans for today are those oddments of food prep, and probably a couple of walks - one to the retail park this morning, then probably another somewhere more scenic (and bird-filled) this afternoon. Tonight will be the final presents to be wrapped then probably just some Christmas TV in front of the fire. Want to get the latest jigsaw started at some stage, too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

You sound incredibly organised! Merry XmasDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
