Well, we do seem to have had a productive day!The island was cleared and cleaned down this morning as planned, so that’s the kitchen all sparkling again! Pottered about in the garden while I waited for MrEH to be ready to pop out - quite a bit of weeding done, in fact our garden waste bin is about a third full now. It will still be a while before we get close to filling it though so I won’t bother signing up for collections again quite yet. Nipped round to Al’s for the final bits of shopping. Had a meeting at 11 to do with our voluntary role - some solid decisions made this morning to move us forwards with things, but also the discovery that a lot of folk have now decided that they can’t make a strategy weekend that was planned for later in the year - the date for which was chosen on the basis of the weekend most people could do! It’s annoying because there is every chance that when the date changes I won’t now be able to make it - I’d kept the other date free deliberately because I knew it was planned for then. Very annoying.Lunch was a big plate of salad with hard boiled eggs, some bacon which needed using, and the last avocado shared between us - I mashed mine with one of my eggs and some chipotle mayo which was really tasty, I’ll be doing that again! Nipped out then to wash the car - we always do that ahead of holiday - then decided we wanted ice creams on the way back. Original plan was to stop in at the convenience store attached to the post office until I suggested that instead I’d nip in to Al’s, where obviously I got a pack of their rip off M@gnum’s and a pack of their rip-off c0rnett0s for less than the cost of the two branded ones from the convenience store! MSE win right there! The rest of the day has been more garden stuff, more holiday prep stuff, and we’re now settled down re-watching The Walking Dead from the beginning. 🧟♀️
Annoyingly re realised today that the irrigation system we bought for the garden won’t work for us. It has an audible alarm that sounds twice a minute if various things happen - the water supply runs too low, or the filter blocks, etc…all well and good, but we can’t run the risk of it going off while we’re not here - it could drive the poor neighbours barmy! We’ll pop out tomorrow and get some bottles which will work with our watering spikes for some stuff, and will ask Mum to water the rest I think, she’ll be popping round to take the post out of the box and check everything is OK anyway, and we can leave the hose out for her. We are right on the end of the return date for the irrigation thing so that will be heading to the parcel shop tomorrow!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

A most productive and mse day, and good you're able to return the irrigation in the nick of time (also thank you on behalf of all other decent neighbours, isn't it nice when people remember there are other people in the world *cough* upstairs cycling *cough* 😁)
Annoying about the voluntary role dates but I guess that's volunteering for you. If you can't attend maybe you'll have to do a selfless act and go check out more pubs instead7 -

Evening all! We’ll just have to see what happens with the rearranged meeting dates PiP - as much as anything else it’s just annoying that it now has to be rearranged because others just haven’t bothered keeping the planned dates free. L - the relevant ferry is now back where she should be so fingers crossed we may get our planned crossing!Well what a glorious day it’s been here today! Up fairly early again but thankfully not a time with a 5 at the beginning today. A 6 I can handle! anyway the towels that went through the wash overnight were hung out by 7 and dry by 10, which was about the time the second load was finished so that went out in their place. And THAT means that as at this moment our laundry basket is completely empty! That doesn’t happen often!Clothes are packed for the holiday - just the ones we need for the journey up and the first two days before we get in to the cottage still need popping into a bag, along with towels. Bits to change into on Thursday will be shoved in to my camera bag and MrEH’s backpack along with our basic washing kit. My camera kit is all packed neatly into my smaller bag - that will go into the hotel overnight with us on Wednesday might, but ideally I’ll try and find space for it to fit in the boot while we are on the ferry. We’ve got a decent amount more done in the garden today in amongst everything else. Found pots for the last few tomatoes, and exchanged the saucers under quite a lot of the pots for a spare boot tray which freed up those saucers for other pots which didn’t have any. MrEH planted all the beans - runner and waxpod- with some additional spare seeds direct sown alongside them. As far as watering goes we’ll leave the hose pulled out and mum will water everything a couple of times while we’re gone - that should be enough with luck. We also found spaces for a few nasturtiums and sweet peas, nipped the top out of the Broad beans - although annoyingly the blackfly have already appeared! It doesn’t look like we’re going to get anything from the last few chilli seeds I put in, and annoyingly the lambs lettuce isn’t germinating either - not sure why, although I can only assume that the seed is the problem as that’s two showings now and nothing from either.
The Big River return has been dropped off and the refund is now showing as pending so that is £30 which will be heading back to the account. On the financial front I have also done the CC money shuffle so that should be at zero tomorrow or Tuesday. No intention of putting anything on it before we leave now aside from filling MrEH’s car up tomorrow, and that will be a holiday spend anyway.Right, that’s about the lot from me I think - time for bed!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

phew - that's quite some preparation EH! - It's been a while since we've been away so I'd forgotten how much effort and planning a trip takes 🤣 Think I may stay grounded for a while yet! OH has suggested a flight to Paris for my upcoming b-day and I retorted with - 'why can't we take the train?'
ETA - he thinks I'm unromantic - he might be right - must try harder 😁4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Your garden sounds as if it’s doing very nicely. When I’m away I always want it to rain every night whilst we’re away both at home and wherever we head to 😂😂 Next door’s sone who is in his teens waters our plants for us but he has been known to forget areas…..and it’s only a small square garden with a few pots.January spends - £587.587
