Curious Power Issue while using Chain Saw with Extension Cable!

chris_n said:Your extension cables at 1.25mm2 are massively undersized. Assuming a start up current of 3 x tool rating you will have a voltage drop of approximately 25V. This reduction in voltage will cause the current to increase to try to satisfy the load which will pull the voltage down further etc.
You need at least a 2.5mm2 extension, possibly more if your voltage is already on the low side.
This problem could be indicative of other issues with size of supply cables etc as others have stated.chris_n said:The inconsistency is due to being right on the edge of failure, I hadn't realised you were trying to use 2 extensions together when I commented earlier. You now have an appropriate 50V drop when trying to start up which will cause huge current increases. get yourself a proper heavy duty extension (2.5mm2) instead of the 1.25mm2 you are using before you use it again to reduce problems.Living the dream in the Austrian Alps.1 -
Point I am making is I was able to cut a big tree 2 weeks ago using same chainsaw connected with same 2 extension cables from the same socket. Now the same setup doesn't work. When I connect Chainsaw directly on the socket all good.
I bought ten 13A fuses last week, only one left now. rest all spoiled!

due to being right on the edge of failure..
Ok
Let me change to heavy duty extension cable and see0 -
I dropped idea of buying more powerful extension cable as at the moment my RIOBI not even working when connected directly to the socket without extension. I am seeing very random behaviour even when I am connecting directly so options are another better electric chainsaw or a petrol one!
Any proven models you know..?Thanks0
