HillStreetBlues said:I decided to do the test, The results were clearly I'm not fit for work (lifelong conditions), well over the 15 points but would now only be in the LCW group.
I would have less money and would have to prepare for work,
So they would have taken money from me and used it to "train" me in work that I will never do."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

The first comment I've heard about the consultation from Labour.

The EHRC (Equality and Human Rights Commission) has written to the DWP minister this week with their concerns on the lack of time for the consultation and lack of published analysis regarding those potentially impacted by proposed changes. The below link is headline to what they have said in their letter and includes link to the letter.

It looks like they deleted the first link but forgot about another link, as they have removed the link to the letter at the bottom of the article, all very strange.

Ok folks.... Today we had the Chancellor's Autumn statement. This covered the proposed changes to the Work Capability Assessment and surrounding issues of helping/getting disabled and sick people into work albeit in the typical headline format of a budget statement. Importantly the announcements today align with and are announced at the same time as the outcome for the consultation this thread is about. In other words you can take today's Autumn statement and directly associate it with the following link which in various formats released today is the Consultation outcome including background, feedback and what the government intends to implement.
A quick appraisal is that they are proceeding with some but not all proposed changes in the consultation. Perhaps unexpectedly also there seems to be a possibility that many existing claimants with LCWRA will never face a Work Capability Assessment again unless there is a special reason to re-assess them. I am though still digesting exactly what all this means. Changes as previously advised not until earliest 2025 (by which time we will have had a general election!)

The above can be understood in conjunction with the government's press release which it may be better to read first:

A reminder please to keep this thread focussed on the practical implications of any changes proposed by the Government, and away from the political rights-and-wrongs.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
