Student. Third party Bill Payer

Has anyone used a third party company to split and pay student utility bills? My son’s house fell through before he moved in and after he had signed and paid a month in advance for utility bills. The third party are saying that can’t simply change the address and that cancellation is required which will cost an extortionate amount and much more than cancellation charges per utility company. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to proceed please? Thank you
