Accepted refund for cancelled flight but want to claim expenses

Hi,

My flight last week was cancelled due to the NATS disruption.

There were no alternative flights for days so we travelled by Eurostar and intended to claim the cost back from EasyJet.

Meanwhile they presented the below options and I selected for a refund, nothing to mention alternative travel expenses.

I’m now trying to submit an expense claim and it says I can’t accept a refund and claim for alternative transport, have I made a massive error here?
Is there no possibility to still claim expenses?
I have travel insurance but worried I’ve also invalidated that accidentally too.

I was doing this under time pressure and stress last week but do think they’ve hidden that info a bit if that’s the case. I thought I get a refund and claim the difference.

Any advice greatly received as we’re about £1250 out of pocket and flight refund was only £250 😭😭
