Can you negotiate with networks to be exempt from mid contract price rises?

Options
I’m with EE and my contract expires end of December. I don’t like that I sign up for a new contract then 3 months later get told the price is increasing

can you negotiate to be excluded for the increase?

Probably not because mobile contract prices are not regulated price wise like energy is for example (which is why if you agree to a 3 year fix for energy, you are fixed for three years because that's in the regulations/supplier ageement - if they offer it they have to honour it, which is what happened when things went sky high)

You can ask but expect the answer to be no.

No, they arent going to rewrite their contracts just for you. At least the rise in April 2024 wont be as much as this years.

Very unlikely, but you could probably obtain a discounted deal from EE for a new contract if you play it right, mitigating also the price rise.

As virtually all the networks have a similar clause, there's probably not much chance of EE or any of them writing a special contract for you.

However there's nothing to sop you asking, or try going somewhere else.

As it’s written into the general networks terms and conditions, there isn’t a hope in hell that you’ll be successful.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

They won't be. Inflation is nowhere near as high as it was and it's on the way down.

The rise, and the timing is fairly prominently displayed when you go to sign up for a new contract - so if you want to delay the period before the rise, you start a new contract just after the annual rise is implemented.
