Pizza hut 70 minutes late and cold

Hi, We ordered pizza hut to the hotel after 40 minutes it was tracked as on the way- then not tracked. I called the shop 3 times no answer. At 65 minutes, the driver called and said he was here, I went out and looked in the drop of circle, then to the car park- no pizza. I called him back- no answer, then again- he said he was in the car park. I went out again and he was parked at the other end by a fire escape. The pizza was cold but he walked off and wouldn’t accept it back. Pizza hut say they have fulfilled their customer services by giving me a £5 voucher. Do I have any rights here. The pizza was over £30 and totally inedible.

You know in life you have to pick your battles. I honestly don't think it's worth your time and effort arguing over how much you should get for a late pizza.
If they think they've done enough then your option is to send them a letter before action claiming however much you feel. If that doesn't do the trick then take them to small claims. But it's liable to cost you more than it's worth.
Personally I would write it up to experience and move on.1 -
Agree with this - unfortunately weekends can always be a bit hit and miss with delivery of fast food.PHK said:You know in life you have to pick your battles. I honestly don't think it's worth your time and effort arguing over how much you should get for a late pizza.

Personally I would write it up to experience and move on.I think when you’re hungry it feels a lot worse and you feel a lot more invested than if you were full.
OP- you could say you’re not happy still and that they’ve lost a customer etc, but outside of them doing something ‘as a gesture of goodwill’ it’s generally not worth it to take them to court.2 -
I remember the days when pizza delivery was a new thing and the general practice then was if the pizza was more than 30 minutes from order, you got the whole order free. That was even built in to the radio advert and I still remember the catchy jingle.
Reminiscing apart, it is odd that the OP was offered a £5 voucher.
The Pizza Hut "Speed Guarantee" says £10 voucher if the delivery is over 40 minutes:
https://www.pizzahut.co.uk/speed-guarantee/
That is, though, suspended because of COVID !?
It may be worth the OP asking for £10 rather than £5 voucher.0 -
Inedible? Cold pizza? Try telling that to the guys I work with.emma.cook3 said:Hi, The pizza was over £30 and totally inedible.12 -
Nothing wrong with cold pizza. Why was it inedible1

Maybe if you explain why it was inedible? Just being cold doesn't make it inedible.
As someone that did a decade of customer service in contact centres, mainly focusing on complaints, before escaping, the one thing most likely not to win any sympathy or goodwill gestures is melodrama. If I dont believe you that its inedible then I start to question how honest or exaggerate the rest of the story is...4 -
Could the hotel not have heated it up for you?0

I agree, most hotels would very much prefer if you did not eat food in your toom, especially greasy food like pizza.jon81uk said:
Hotel won't want the liability if you then get sick from poorly reheated food. Also if it is a hotel that offers food themselves they want to see their own meals so I can also see them refusing.sheramber said:Could the hotel not have heated it up for you?0
