I would suggest you contact CIFAS again, I wonder if you submitted your SAR in the short period between being send the letter and your original bank having reported to them.
Checked and still nothing on CIFAS as of today.
    Where did you check?
Equifax produces a CIFAS tab. I've started paying for it, as I need to understand what's actually happening.
Paying a credit reference sub is a waste of money. You can see all useful info they have on the free versions.

They don‘t show all the CIFAS markers in the free or in the paid for versions.

On the other hand, there is a value associated with knowing you can see everything there is to be seen in the OP's circumstances.

What is there of value in the paid-for versions that you can't see in the free versions?

MSE doesn't seem to suggest that anyone needs the paid-for versions: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/check-free-credit-report/

That isn't what I claimed there to be. I was inferring a value in terms of regaining control of a perceived crisis.

Yes but all that can be achieved by looking at the free versions.

I don't disagree, but that's not really my point.
  • @zjoliveira Specific to your need to open a bank account, my advice would be to NOT apply to any bank online, but to go into a branch, explain your situation and establish if you can open a basic account. That's based on the experiences of a relative and guidance they were given after applications to a couple of banks online were accepted, then rejected due to an erroneous CIFAS marker placed against them by Starling Bank and now removed. As to what is causing you problems, with no CIFAS marker reported, I have no idea.

Passbook? Or do you mean take passport into branch as proof of identity?
