Yesterday NGESO published an updated Market Information Report on the current state the DFS program:
https://www.nationalgrideso.com/document/301346/download
In this report they confirm that the most recent session was the last one to use a Guaranteed Acceptance Price (the £3/kWh figure all previous tests have been ran at) and that all remaining tests will now use the "competitive bidding" structure. The document linked above is quite short for anyone wanting to read in full, but here's a brief extract summarising the pricing changes:the Guaranteed Acceptance Price will be set to £0/MWh and a volume requirement will be set to engineer price competition between Registered DFS Participants. It seems the remaining tests will be further exploring the short-notice aspect of the scheme with a focus on within-day procurement, and that we should expect to see a range of different prices over the coming sessions
[...]
The ESO will be seeking to test a range of competition levels and understand the economics of flexibility against the Balancing Mechanism, existing ancillary services, and other actions.
They have also inadvertently indicated the next test session will take place from February, so likely no more for this month. Live events are, of course, unaffected by any of this and will be ran as normal if and when they are needed (although the likelihood of that being necessary is decreasing as we move out of January).
