I've used LibreOffice to copy and paste from OpenOffice docs.
From there I could sucessfully copy and paste to or open in , Word.

Or if it's only occasionally like me then I go to the library and write in their Word for free.
I've also written in an email but saved to Draft. Then to the library and copy and paste the text to a Word document.
You can save the Word doc to your email.

So I'm lucky maybe that the library is only 5 or 10mins away.
Some things I copy to a USB stick and take that there. Printing too is cheaper than buying a printer and inks and you don't have the hassle of jamming and such.

I sometimes wonder if I take my MSE too seriously :D

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

OP is using a chromebook. Yes I'm aware that it is possible to install LibreOffice on a chromebook using the linux sudo apt-get command line, but given they said they weren't very technically minded I don't think that would be good advice.
  • As much as I, the O/P have welcomed your suggestions, let me say this. Since I brought to the attention of an editor that their request for contributions should ve in Word format, a rethink has taken place. It seems anyone can now email normally. This means that those without Word or the confidence to embark on such procedures to ibstall it, are no longer exempt.

This is good news, considering the aim of the magazine is to offer help and support to anyone about to undergo urinary diversion surgery.
