I have a chromebook. I wish to submit letters/articles to a journal. We are now asked to submit such things in a Word document. I'm aware not everyone has Microsoft Word as such, wondered if there is a way of getting round this. £5.99 per month for Microsoft Word just to be able to submit a letter is out of the question. Any idea's please?.

Libre Office. It can read and write Microsoft Word files, as well as many other file formats.2

Google Docs (docs.google.com), the default word processor on your Chromebook, will let you download documents you have created in .docx (MS Word) format.2

Very easy. Chromebooks were designed around the assumption that people would use Google web based apps such as Docs.[Deleted User] said:

The option is in the File menu in Google Docs:
File -> Download -> Microsoft Word

In Google Docs, when starting a new document, just press the 'New Word file' option. Your file will be in '.docx' format.[Deleted User] said:

It works but does require you to have, or set up, a (free) Microsoft Outlook account.cerebus said:Nobody seems to have mentioned the free online version of microsoft word

Do you have a paid-for Google Workspace account? Or do you have some kind of add-on installed? I don't see that option on my free Google Docs account.Reddleman79 said:In Google Docs, when starting a new document, just press the 'New Word file' option.
