Moving home - removal company

Does anyone know what actually removal men will pack up when you have the full deal with them, including a packing up and fragile service.

I'm unclear as to what we have to pack up ourselves. Obviously food, cleaning stuff, expensive and personal items. But what else do we need to pack up and what do the removal company pack up?

Any help is appreciated 👍

if it is the full deal they will do the lot - you would be sensible to pack your own personal stuff and anything valuable that you are taking and not them but they have packed food, cleaning stuff, the shredder full of paper etc for me  - they packed a plate complete with half a round of toast for a friend

My removal men would not take any plants or any of my crystals. Apart from that they took everything else.

I've had movers who would not take patio/bbq gas canisters (and plants, as above).

Thank you everyone, I shall just pack up mine and Dh's personal things as well as our laptops/tablets and phones.  I'll use the next few days to totally clear out the crud/stuff not needed and then leave it up the removers.

I know they've said they will take 8 plants with them so that's a relief.

It's all the other stuff I always think we should take..lol

Toiletries, toilet roll, medicines/prescriptions, phones with charging leads, cutlery and dishes, condiments and sauces for takeaways. Photo albums. Important documents (exam certificates, passports etc.)Bottle of wine but probably no bottle-opener. A few tenners or bottles for tips.

Friends had full packing going on for their house move.  They went upstairs to answer a question from one of the removal men.  When they came back down their breakfast plates and bowls had been packed and the table was gone.  In the new house the plates, complete with congealed egg and toast crumbs, were unpacked and placed back on the kitchen table.
I think the money I spent on full packing was worth every penny. You can live normally until the last minute, collect up any small valuable items and leave them to it.

I agree with the others.  We’ve always used a packing service for kitchen items, glass and china etc but on the last move they packed everything.  It was more expensive but not massively so.  Watching them was amazing, how they packed was a work of art :D  They had big padded bags for the tv, large mirrors and  chairs etc.  Well worth paying for.

They didn’t eat the posh biscuits or home made cake I had provided so we took that round to new neighbours, got off to a good start.

If you choose not to use a packing service have a close look at their terms & conditions.  Some removal companies may not pay out or pay in full if you pack your best Waterford glass yourself and it gets broken.

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
