Hello, back in sept 2022 we were advised by EDF to fix our electricity for the next two years to guarantee we have the best deal. We are on a go electric tariff with a peak rate of 60p/kWh and 30p/kWh off peak. We have just discovered that the newer tariff has a peak rate of 30p/kWh and feel cheated. We will have to pay exit fees of £150 for electricity and another £150 if we want to change the gas tariff too. Is there anything I can do to avoid the fees? I feel so disappointed with this. We have struggled to pay our bills, but do not claim any benefit so do not qualify for additional help.
I emailed the go electric team asking I could move from our go electric fix ending May 24 to their new go electric flexible tariff without paying an early exit fee (£150) and they said yes.  May be worth asking this team, hopefully getting something in writing, and then using this if they do impose a fee when you switch.

[As an aside, our go electric costs 4.5p/45p and we use 95% plus at the 4.5p rate is still really good value for us but is dual fuel with a gas tariff (13p) that is nearly double the going rate so it is really hard to decide whether to stay on the fix through the winter]
    I think....
