Last chance???

We got 2 Last Chance letters today from DVLA saying "Tax it or lose it" at the top. I thought that was very rude, especially as we had had no V5 and no reminders. OK we should have known but , really, shouldn't we have had notification that the reminders were no longer being sent out? Anyone else had this?

Could the issue be you do not have the V5, which begs why not? When did you get the car? Did you get & fill in new keeper slip, or rely on previous owner to do it?Life in the slow lane0 -

I have a V5 - sorry for that mistake. We are registered for our cars and usually get reminders. That is the issue.0

Reminders are still being sent out if you tax your car through a non direct debit method or if you have opted for didgital reminders through the service linked to above.
If you got 2 letters, I assume you have 2 cars due for taxing?
So given they are sent out, and two later reminders have arrived, either something happened in the postal system, or at your end.0 -
Is this for tax that expired on 31.7.23? If so, a number of people (including me!) didn't get reminders, so there may have been an issue somewhere, see previous discussion.

Wouldn’t ever rely on receiving a reminder - surely it’s not too difficult to diary note dates that tax, mot, insurance are due. I’ve always made a note the month before as well, especially for the insurance and mot which generally take a while to sort out unlike the tax which can be paid the day before.0

I subscribed to a text message reminder but I still get the postal one, I got it twice this year for some reason.
