Dishwasher Leaking - only 2 years and a half years old

Hi, I wanted to know if anyone has dealt with goods not lasting a reasonable amount of time and how to address this. The retailer states on the website to go straight to the manufacturer which is incorrect according to Martin Lewis. I'm yet to contact them but wanted some advice before I do this and to see if anyone has been successful in getting good repaired or replaced through a retailer?

Do you know where the dishwasher is leaking from? Could it simply be a hose connection which has come slightly loose?

Is it the machine itself of the water supply to the machine. You dont want them to come out and bill you if they
find the issues is your side not the machine itself.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
What Martin means is that the retailer can't shirk responsibility. But that doesn't mean they can't use the manufacturer as their repair and/or inspection service.
It's also okay to refer you to the manufacturer if the manufacturers warranty offers enhanced rights over your consumer rights.
I can't comment on this particular case because I don't know the retailer.
But generally speaking as more than six months have passed, unless the retailer agrees there's an inherent fault or the dishwasher isn't sufficient quality, then you'll need to prove this. Taking into account price, how its been used etc.
For something like a dishwasher, an independent report would be a good thing. Just be aware that it might not say that the dishwasher is not of sufficient quality or that it's inherently faulty (it might be that itsa plumbing issue, you've damaged the seal, used a harsh chemical, not maintained it etc)0 -
OP, you might get more help on this board: -KylieR88 said:Hi, I wanted to know if anyone has dealt with goods not lasting a reasonable amount of time and how to address this. as it is more about consumer rights, which is what you want rather then technical help.0 -
Have you had a report on what is wrong with the machine? If it's a build up of limescale on the door seals, for example, that just needs cleaning and would not be a warranty repair or a claim under the CRA.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Make and Model would help

Not sure as its in my tenants house. An engineer has gone out and just said that the computer module needs replacing and that it will cost more than the dishwasher so it needs replacing. Its under 3 years old.TELLIT01 said:Do you know where the dishwasher is leaking from? Could it simply be a hose connection which has come slightly loose?0 -
Replacing a board won't generally fix a leak.....KylieR88 said:

Sounds like the engineer couldn't be bothered so made up some BS so he could make some easy money
BTW welcome to modern times where everything is made as cheap as possible and nothing lasts long , if manufactors cared so much about the environment like they say they do , then they should make things to last but of course they will lose money by doing that0 -
The boards are normally at the top of the machine, where leaks can’t get to them. So, I agree that something is wrong with the diagnosis. On the other hand, a faulty board that doesn’t turn off the water coming into the machine could cause a leak. Was that an engineer sent by the manufacturer?
Of course, some dishwashers are made to last well. You don’t need to spend Miele money, either. Our Bosch machine is over ten years old. But, for rental properties people often buy cheap brands. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
