Three EU Roaming

I'm going to Spain tomorrow and have a Three mobile contract (not pre- '21). I had looked on their site a few days ago and saw they had a £20 charge for 14 days roaming in the EU. I thought I would buy that tonight, as I need to research travel over there and use date for Zoom etc.

But I just looked tonight and I can only see the option for £2 daily data. I've spent ages looking for the add-on roaming pass that was there before, or any help chat I can go to.

Any advice/knowledge on this? I see there was a lot of annoyance when free roaming stopped, but would they have now taken off these add on passes? There was another more expensive one for international data. It's not that much more expensive daily, but I'm also concerned as the £2 seems a bit more complicated. I thought it would be nice and easy to just click on the £20 deal.

It's too late for now but I changed to ID mobile from 3 for this very reason as they offer free roaming.
You could just wait and see if you actually need it as a lot of places have wifi, then just buy the £2 for the days you need it.

Thank you for the reply. I found it afterwards and bought it. This is my first trip abroad in ages but next time I will look into ID or something different. I'm on my own with my youngest son for the first few days, so even though the £2 for just days I need does sound sensible, that would probably worry me more if I had to sort it out when there. If my older boys are there, they just sort all these things out for me now.

Would the £20 add-on kick in once I get there, or would I need to do anything else now bought?
  • I would recommend looking at other companies which offers free roaming without a fair usage limit. Popit Mobile is one you should consider.

They run off the EE network so you'll get good coverage nationally. You can even pause it for £1.00 a month when it is no longer required.

Popit Mobile must be on drugs, £8 a month for 1GB of data? I get 50GB of data for £8 on Smarty and I still get EU roaming as well.

I would read through their fine print as I found the following from Smarty's site: "Subject to our fair use limit, you can use up to 12GB of data each month out of your monthly allowance"

    And?

£8 for 1GB allowance or £8 for 50GB UK allowance and a12GB EU allowance for roaming?

You'd have to be paid to promote them if you chose Popit.
