Which broadband package are you on?
I'm on the XL package and if a user downloads 3gb or more then their internet gets capped for 4 hours or so down to 5mb. It may get capped for longer, I'm not sure
It's lesser for the other broadband packages. I'm paying for 20mb broadband and I sometimes only get 6mb. It depends on how much you're downloading, any technical virgin media faults and any excessive traffic in your area.

Didn't Virgin media buy out nthellworld during the buyout/merger of ntl/telewest??
I believe they bought the site from the owner and offered him a job with VM so it is now more like an official support forum these days.
They can also clamp down on the negative comments.
That's two different sites. The original was indeed purchased by ntl and eventually closed, you can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nthellworld.co.uk aka cableforum.co.uk the last incarnation iirc will to quote the original sites creators 'never be sold to ntl' or virgin media as it is now known.
It's a good resource for resolving problems, though they do clamp down occasionally on posts they deem to be unsuitable for the site in a bid to 'protect' their 'relationship with virgin media'.
But it remains a site to resolve complaints, should one of the moderators deem your problem to be suitable for passing onto their 'virgin media contacts'. I'm not personally involved in the site, though I have had a few complaints settled by using it.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0
