would have been more expensive by September 2021I was thinking the same. The October 2021 Ofgem cap was around 21p/kWh. OVO had the cheapest 2-year fixed-rate deal in MSE's 07/09/21 email, but it was only £57/yr cheaper than the £1277 cap so can't have been undercutting it by much. Certainly not by a third, which is what the OP seems to think. The gas cap was just over 4p/kWh, so the OP could be correct to claim 3.86p/kWh.(Looking back further to the April 2021 Ofgem cap, electricity was 19p/kWh and gas was 3.3p/kWh. That still doesn't seem to explain the prices the OP thinks they had.)@Sunnysaint can you post a photo of your bill from earlier in the year showing the 2-year fixed rate tariff you were then on? Black out any personal info like your name. address and account number. That might help to clear all this up!

It would seem my problem stems from the fitting of a smart meter on 0707/22. We never wanted one but were more or less bullied / browbeaten by OVO to have it fitted. The details on the change over before/after are as follows( remeber I had been on a 2 year September16th '23 before the fitting of said meter)
Energy use charge
128.04 kWh@26.95p from 22 June-6th July on old meter
5.00kWh @56.40p from 7-9July on your new meter
79.43kWh @56.40 from 13-21July
Standing charge
15days @22.44per day from 22 June-6 July
15days @ 51.52 per day from 7-21 July
I have a photo of this taken from the OVO website but I appear to be unable to add it to this site

Thanks guys for nought( especially Alnat1 and CSI_Yorkshire). Thanks to my own digging, I awoke this morning to a CREDIT of £1000.50.......when I rang to enquire how or why, Ovo were very evasive and were seemingly unwilling to give me an explanation.......a long email was sent by myself outlining the problem and I am eagerly awaiting their explanation. I'd be very interested to hear the explanation - and how the apparent overcharging you say you have discovered has led to a £1000 credit in only 6 weeks. At approximately 30p per unit difference (what it shows on your photograph), that's about 1.5 times the annual average use of electricity that you must have used in the six weeks to get that size of overcharging - and about 10-15x the usage that your photograph of two weeks with the new meter suggests.
Be aware, what they might be doing is cancelling old bills and replacing them, so a chunk of that credit could suddenly disappear again.1 -
Glad to hear that you are getting somewhere with Ovo. Please keep us posted. It's also interesting that (per the statement photo) your incredibly cheap 14.83p/kWh tariff actually turned out to be 26.95p/kWh!N. Hampshire, he/him. It would appear that when they indicated that I was £900+ in debt, that I wasn't , so when I paid £900 to clear the debit this has now been credited back to my account. It seems since the "smart" meter went in they have been overcharging me on the electricity and it looks like they have rectified this error.
However they are still investigating and have yet to come up with ANY explanation...........I await with interest.

This may be a silly comment, I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong!
The prices on your bill, are they the gross price before EPG?
Didn't some suppliers charge at the full price and then deduct the EPG element later?
You weren't really charged 56.4p per kWh, wasn't that just their rate before the EPG?
Where's the rest of the bill, does that have any more information?0
