  • Have you considered a floor lamp or similar connected to a smart plug? We have smart plugs dotted around the house and we now hardly use the ceiling lights.

Our light switches are just for show -
we use Alexa and motion sensors or time based profiles for every light, although the switches will work, we mostly have them there because a room without a light switch looks odd.

hue has two options for switches you can put a battery operated remote on the wall, which looks and acts like a light switch, but lets you dim it, or there is the button. There is a third option, a backbox installed gadget to make dumb lights smart but if going down that route you'll still have the same problem

chasing walls is messy work and filling them and sanding and repainting etc

for the effort of just get a button.
