Selling House - Broken Appliance responsibility

The buyers are already financially committed in that they will have payed some if not all of their conveyancing fees so pulling out over a second hand dishwasher would be completely irrational. I agree the right thing to do is let them know and ask if they want you to dispose of it. I was left a cooker on its last legs - hob fine, top oven only worked as a grill and main oven didn’t work at all. I had no complaints as I used it for the few months until putting in a new kitchen and new appliances. Had I been left a completely useless cooker I'd have been a bit peeved.

If the dishwasher can't be fixed just buy a used one OR offer the monetary equivalent of a used machine for the buyer to put towards a new one of their choice.

let your solicitor now so they can let the buyers know that there is a change to the information on the forms and the dishwasher will no longer be left as it has stopped working.
Make sure you get rid of it so they aren't stuck disposing of it.
If they kick up a fuss, offer them £40 as being the maximum value of the dishwasher as it was when they viewedAll posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Thanks all! Unfortunately it can't be fixed at all (had the guy out this morning) so have let the EA and solicitor know but haven't heard back yet.
No intention of leaving it for them to have to remove, not a problem there at all.
I just have a feeling they'll be fussy about it. They're a FTB that's been fussy about everything so far. We took an offer £2k under asking as we were assured they wanted things to move fast (we have a deadline due to new job stuff) and then they didn't even sort their mortgage or even book their survey for 5 weeks.
Then it's been some back and forth, they're getting a washing machine, hob and a 3yo oven all for free and wek took £1k off again to get things over the line.
If they pull out over a £40 dishwasher that's older than my dog quite frankly I'll enjoy knowing they'll pay more that than tenfold when they have to get a new mortgage rate agreed 😂1 -
At the very least I'd leave a pack of washing up sponges, a bottle of fairy liquid (other brands are available) and a couple of tea towels.
