Tips for getting cheaper flights

Hi all,

I'm looking for tips to get cheaper flights. I'm planning a trip to New Zealand in October.

I've been trying to look for discount codes and also being trying to use VPN's but not had much luck. The price always stays the same with VPN's.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or know of any cashback credit cards on flights?

Thanks.

October 2023 (i.e. a few weeks away, rarely a good gap if seeking bargains) or October 2024?

Or know of any cashback credit cards on flights?

I dont think there really are many tips to get cheaper flights other than keeping an eye on prices and buying when it looks like a good deal. I just use flights.google.com to find the best available deals and play around with dates. It can make a big difference sometimes going a couple of days earlier or later.

Mid-week flights can be cheaper sometimes but fares to NZ have been really high this year simply down to demand as NZ effectively closed its borders completely for 2 years. Flying via China used to be cheaper but those flights are only just getting going due to restrictions still in place in China so I do think you are simply going to have to cough up if you want to travel in 8 weeks' time! October isn't peak season so fares are not at their highest, if you find a very low fare be careful with who you book, the comparison websites tend to have some very dodgy agents who may never deliver what you think you booked. And finally, make sure the company you book with is UK based, many with .co.uk web addresses are overseas and difficult to deal with if there is a problem
