You can get a single person discount of 25% if you live alone. Definitely true of Thames Water and probably of others too.

    Do you mean an assessed charge where they cannot fit a water meter? A water meter is almost always cheaper unless you are a very high use property.

    Incorrect to say this as a blanket statement.

    You'd need to apply for a meter, and if one can be fitted - happy days! As you'll only be paying for what you (a single person) uses anyway.

    If one cannot be fitted, you'll be offered an assessed charged, of which there is a 'single occupier' rate.
