Apologies for my being AWOL this week. Keeping up with the thread but only doing basic flying.
I am already shattered, and we're taking K and the girls out today. Tea is in the SC, and I've loaded the DW and done WMx2 of 3 or 4, which I need to hang out before I put up a picnic lunch for 5.
Just wanted to send good wishes to MrN x

Got Mr N to the hospital by 7.20am and stayed with him for an hour. He messaged me at noon to say it was all done and I was able to pick him up by 5pm. He seems fine; tired and a bit sore but apparently it all went well - he just has to be kept away from lifting the vacuum cleaner etc for a few weeks - heck, what will I do?
Went for a run.
Did a load of washing.
Cleaned the bedroom and en suite to get all those germs out of the way.
Had a pleasant day with my brother although sadly the reason his wife has come up this particular day to visit her mum is that end-of-life care has been suggested and agreed by family. DB will stay with me overnight while SIL and her sisters sit with their mum for shifts.
DB and I picked 3 large punnets of blackberries.
Watered greenhouse.
Filled bird feeders.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Glad to hear that MrN is home
Narc0, you can just tell anyone rude enough to comment on your floors that your hoover(er) is in for repairs
We survived the day out with K and the girls - actually had a great time at the local NT property which has an amazing collection of modern art, and Rosie enjoyed our walk in the woods. The girls want to go back there soon (always a good sign).
This evening I have discovered that one of DH's ancestors, who was an engraver and stencil cutter by trade, was convicted of forging banknotes and transported for life to Western Australia in 1858. Almost as much fun as the bigamist way back in my family treeUnfortunately I got so engrossed in the online records that I didn't manage to file the papers that I was meant to be clearing from a storage box that I am taking to DS2 next week. Must try harder tomorrow! But my washing has dried beautifully and been FUPA. I gather we can expect heavy rain overnight.
See you tomorrow xxx
ETA: Papers now filed!7 -
Morning all, I woke stupidly early today, and since it is Friday decided to do my own version of Fly Lady. 15 minute increments over two hours.
1) Started the washing with my leisurewize twin tub, First load Whites, its wash cycle is 15 minutes.
2) Wipe both sides of internal doors. (Only got two done as they are BAD), Wiped down banister as walking down from second floor to first floor. (Restart t/t as I always give each load 2 cycles)
3) Tackle kitchen during second cycle, pots into dish washer (2 hour cycle) (So now I have both my timers set). Cleaned down the work tops, top of cooker, Front of F/F, Front of Oven, Front of cupboards
4) Swap clothes from washer to spinner. Add a new load of clothes Lights.
5) Sweep Floors - got kitchen, dining room and bathroom swept.
6) Second cycle, Remove clothes from Spinner, Mop Floors. Got aforementioned floors mopped Hoovered Living Room.
7) Swap clothes from washer to spinner. Add a new load of clothes Darks.
8) Hang out washing that has been done so far. Clean up Dog muck from Garden, Water seedlings.
9) Second Cycle, empty and fold clothes from Spinner. Put kettle on and made a drink.
10) Swap clothes from washer to spinner. Add final load of clothes - Big fluffy dressing gown (by itself so just did a single cycle) Hang out by t/t waiting for spinner to finish so as to empty clothes and take down with previous load to hang out to dry.
11) Swap clothes from washer to spinner. Drain and empty contents of washer section of t/t. Rinse out washer section and second drain. Get fluffy dressing gown from spinner and hang on line.
12) Drink the now cold cup of coffee. Wait for dishwasher to finish and put pots away.
Nowhere is perfectly clean and tidy but there is a marked difference. Tomorrow I am bk to my 12.5hr night shifts (4 per week). Doesn't really give me much time for cleaning on a daily basis. Normally I just try to make sure pots are all in D/W before I go to work, and then spend one of my two days off washing all the clothes etc. The other one is spent with all non household chores so cleaning doesn't really get done.

Blimey Penny2 thats quite a list! Well done. And glad the Mr N is doing OK.
Finished the paid stuff early and drove into our tiny little market town to get a couple of things to put in a gift bag for DS, we are having a family celebration for his graduation tonight and we are giving him some Euros for his holidays, but I wanted a couple of small presents. I was then somehow talked into buying a £15 candle by the owner of the fancy gift shop - yes I know - I actually felt quite panicked because she spent so much time showing me things that I had to buy something.
Anyhow, after that adventure I have dusted and hoovered the whole house, put the clean washing away, emptied the DW and cleaned the filter, and had a good tidy up.
Now is official relaxation time until I have to get ready to go out. I have my book and a brew, and the dog is happily snoring on the sofa next to me.9 -
Hi everyone,What a busy week you are all having, it makes you wonder how we fit it all in. Hope those post op are well on the way to recovery.
I’ve been the same, spent all Wed evening in A&E with mum. Dad had inadvertently given mum the wrong dosage of her new pills so the surgery got the district nurse to pop in and see her, they thought the accidental OD was ok as it was antibiotics but she wasn’t happy with her oxygen levels so had her blue lighted in. She unfortunately has sepsis so they are treating that first then are looking at the arm as it looks like the infection has come from a chest infection. Dad probably did her a favour but naturally he was beside himself but at least he has a few days off. Unlikely to wind down though as he has been painting the kitchen floor the last 2 days!!!
I haven’t been up today as needed a break from it and have had a lovely day with DS DDIL DGS and DD and a picnic in the park. Can’t wait for DD to share the picture of DGS with his blue ice cream everywhere, it brought some light hearted relief.
Flying has been keeping on top of the kitchen and bathroom with a S/S and this morning I hoovered the stairs.
Tomorrow we are off to Norwich to see DH’s cousins who are his only surviving family now.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!5 -
I was in Asd* earlier and spotted something called 'invisible windows' for £1.50. It's a foaming glass cleaner. Have given it a quick go on the front windows and they look okay, but have just tried on the patio doors and they were a bit smeary - sun really bright in the kitchen diner at the moment. I went over them again with a piece of kitchen roll and they seemed much better. I like to avoid chemicals if I can and did see a fb blog about using shaving foam so I wonder if that would be better. DH uses shaving gel so probably not the same thing. I'll persist with this foam, the smeariness might be because I haven't cleaned the insides of the windows for ages. If it does work it's a bit easier then using soap and water. I did used to use vinegar and water but that definitely required more elbow grease and time"Think of many things, do one"
