It's much more common these days to open a separate savings account and then simply transfer money across to your current account as and when you need it, although you'd need online banking for this to be a viable, convenient option.
Isn't there a risk that the bank's security systems will flag this and refuse the transaction?
As opposed to a dedicated card that takes the money directly?

on what grounds?  as long as it's an easy access savings account you can pretty much move your money around as you like.

I guess occasionally one might go thru some extra checks, especially for larger sums but pretty much you can move your money as you wish.

If you are able to go to a Skipton BS branch, there is this one:

    3. Manage your account:

    ou can do so:
    • using our Internet Bank or Banking app (if you’re registered)
    • using a Nationwide ATM or paying-in machine, as long as you choose to have a cash card
    • in one of our branches, if you have a cash card.

Your statement will be on the Internet Bank or you can ask for one in branch.

I remember years ago I had the Internet Saver account with Yorkshire Building Society and that came with a cash card

Unfortunately (for this purpose, anyway!) they removed cash cards for all accounts in 2021.

Thanks to all for the suggestions thus far.

Only if the amounts involved are very large. My salary moves around a lot each month between different banks, accounts etc. and this hasn't been a problem. The only time I've had an issue is when trying to move >£5k, e.g. to fund an ISA or make the most of better savings rates.

Was there something you had seen that indicated this one has a card? Their support seemed to think that it doesn't, unfortunately.
  • So far I've identified:

    Bank of Scotland, Access Saver
    Barclays, Everyday Saver
    Halifax, Everyday Saver

Is anyone aware of any others?

Are you certain these do? as the websites makes no mention of an ATM card.

Yes - all three were straightforward to request via customer service. I can't yet post links but the Barclays Everyday Saver page does make reference to an "optional ATM card".

Nationwide seem to require that the account be opened in branch rather than online if you want to get a card.

Halifax do, as I have one - I think they call them a cash card.
