Deadly gripper rods, how to dispose of them?

We don't have bins here. We have to leave garbage bags outside every Wednesdaymolerat said:If someone really wants to rummage in a wheelie bin then good luck to them !Wheelie bins solve most of the "people getting hurt by objects" problems, no human contact once placed in there.
Where do you live? Reference to 'garbage' suggests it may not be the UK.
I live in Havering
They really shouldn’t be difficult to remove, unless they’ve been glued down. Just put a screwdriver between the gripper and the floor, hammer it in and then pull it up.
In terms of disposal it depends on the volume. If you’ve got a few just put them in the normal waste. If you’ve got a lot then drop them down at your local recycling centre, probably in the wood bin.1 -
I have them glued to the lips of my van doors, so should someone try to peel my van open they are in for a nasty surprise, probably illegal but my livelihood is in my van.The used gripper rods can be placed on top of fences as intruder deterrent or on apex of shed to stop it being used as a roost.Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'2 -
The last lot I had, chopped them up for kindling. The ash then went in the bin with the rest of the household waste.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
I used to buy new ones for the top of the fence - I figured that should a burgular (I had 6 living across from me) go to the police to complain about their hands it would also show they were doing something illegal so we were quits. As long as there's a sign stating that it's used I believe it's passable. You have warned.Breaking them up to reasonable sizes as long as you wear protective gloves can help with disposal. I think carpet may be overkill. You could use a cheap loaf of bread and wrap the slices around and then wrap the whole in cling film etcIf you're really worried many carpet shops have skips with the waste outside. They'd be grateful for you to take some.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Not really - you can't just have a sign saying "warning, landmines" or "warning, bear traps".twopenny said:As long as there's a sign stating that it's used I believe it's passable. You have warned.

As this is a money saving forum do you think quid pro quo would suffice.CSI_Yorkshire said:

They should prise up from the floor fairly easy using anything like a large flat-blade screwdriver, or even a wood chisel. If you really want to make them 'safe' afterwards, then flatten the sharps using a hammer. Or, more simply, place them in pairs against each other, sharps inwards, and tape them.0

When I took up some wooden gripper rods a while ago, I made bundles, tied together with string. Then into bulky waste at the recycling centre.

Yes, as bears can't read that wouldn't count as fair warning to them.CSI_Yorkshire said:

Tell that to Hank the Tank, the burglar bear who has been busy round Lake Tahoe, California. According to reports DNA evidence connects her to twenty one break-ins.
Brave officer that took that sample.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke0
