Well no, the article is not "wrong".

If you bought an annual pass you don't pay again until that runs out.
If you pay monthly, you can buy a year now and keep that price until it runs out next year, otherwise you'll move to the new rates at the next biling date.

If you have an annual pass and it's good to go for another six months or whatever, there's no point cancelling it because you're paid up to your renewal date.
  • Anyone else struggling with the 'switch to annual and save...' account option? Nothing happens when I select 'agree and subscribe' having tried two different web browsers and the app. Are they stopping people beating the deadline maybe?

Worked instantly for me on the 25th - my monthly payment date was 27th; was your date further in the future ??

Has anybody moved to the lowest subscription - the one with ads?

I've just been notified of the new price for renewal of annual membership next month, and I can't justify it.    I first signed up just before launch, so year one was £49.99 on a special deal.  Year 2 went up to £59.99, and then for year 3 it jumped to £79.90 - which was also the cost last March for year 4, at which point I had to think long and hard due to how much / little we used it in year 3.    So it's already gone up £30 over 3 years, and now I'm looking  at another £30 increase which isn't happening.

I'm also struggling to justify the lower 'no ads' one which would be £79.90 again, so we're considering the £4.99/month with ads - but I can't find any information at to how they work.   I'd hope you don't get any during a film (just at start and probably end)?   But how many duing a series?   And does it work like Freevee, in that the longer you watch for in one session/day the fewer ads you get per episode?   The drop in picture and audio quality doesn't bother me, as my set-up doesn't use the higher quality anyway.

I'm also assuming that if we drop to monthly payments (that one isn't available as an annual), we can then upgrade to annual at the end of any month if we find the ads too distracting?   That would also let me move a lump sum payment to a better time of year (Jan/Feb are expensive for car expenses right after Christmas, so I don't like having to find another chunk in March).
