OP I think there is some form of calculator on the Gov.uk site that you can put numbers in to confirm it’s excepted and to then use on applying just for Probate. I’ve not used that myself so someone may confirm and link for you,Don’t worry, it’s a steep learning curve and one that most of us will only ever benefit from once or twice again thankfully. I filled out a whole form before being guided on here to the forms I should actually have been completing!When I did have to complete the IHT400 forms I also chickened out of using the IHT402 for the same reasons you were struggling, instead I did the RNRB and transferredRNRB as that plus the NRB covered the amount I needed to cover.1 -
@poppystar phew - glad its not just me then ! exactly same method here - find the forms that you need to cover the amount you need to cover....and no more. Really appreciate the help on here today, feel a bit more in control now. thanks
