Switching from Virgin to Sky

Having no end of issues with renewing a contract with Virgin after being a loyal customer for years, so considering a move to Sky - for both broadband and tv.
I understand sky don't use dishes any more but we have obviously been using a Virgin cable so what happens if we switch back to Sky? Can they use our phone line (which is extremely old copper wire) or do they provide new wiring for broadband use? Will this cost the earth on top of a monthly subscription?
TIA

Sky never used dishes for broadband.
A new broadband service with them will either be over the phone line for ADSL/FTTC packages or a completely new installation with full fibre (FTTP), they cannot use your existing Virgin cables.
Installation is normally free.
Sky TV is still available via satellite (Sky Q) and they also offer it over a broadband connection with a Stream puck connected to your own TV or you can purchase their streaming TV, Sky Glass.
Do be aware that the streaming services have different channels to the satellite offering and how you watch saved content is completely different, suggest you have a look at the webpage and Sky forum.0 -
Thanks Ayr_Rage - complicated isn't it?! Sorry I meant I'm moving both tv and broadband to Sky. Sounds like I'll have to put a call into them as it's not an easy thing to get an answer to.0

Have you put your cancellation in to Virgin? They should call you back trying to keep you with far better offer than they initially offered. Unless you get FTTP, it’s unlikely the speeds you get off Sky or whoever else you choose to go with (they all use Bt line) will get anywhere near Virgin. If you get 3 5G is only £20 a month..have. A look on uswitch broadband for your area to see best broadband price. You can then get Sky stream separately or wait till Virgin call back.0
