Money owed by company in liquidation

Hi all, I hope I'm in the right place! My husband lost his job at the end of last year when the company he was working for folded. He was owed money (about £1500) in unpaid wages but given the way the company ended and the lack of communication we assumed there was no hope of receiving this. I'm now wondering if that is so. My question is can we still make a claim for the money owed? And - big one I know - how would we go about this? We live in Scotland btw. The only info I have found out so far about the company is that there was a petition to wind up the company by HMRC in May so am assuming a liquidator was appointed then.
Very grateful for any advice and or pointers to help me with this. Thank you
