Tbh, the thing is on it's last legs. Unless someone fancies a restoration project, it wouldn't be worth the petrol money to collect

The challenge with asking the delivery people if they can help is the council uplift may need to be arranged for a particular day, and putting something out too far in advance is treated as fly tipping.  And where I am the soonest possibly date for the council may not be very soon.
Is there a noticeboard where you could put a note asking if anyone could help?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

At least that's not a problem for me. I live in a sheltered complex, so it'll go into just inside the entrance (where our bins are) not the pavement. They have picked up from there before

Also known as "suitable for upcycling". :)

You'll probably struggle to get someone to take it for that, being serious for a moment, if it's as bad as you suggest. I've seen people with perfectly good leather recliners listing them again and again.

    Thanks for the replies

It's a small room, so the £10 "bribe" and the council uplift is my best bet. That way I don't have to go without a sofa for a few days :-)
    Was this a successful strategy?
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

I won't be doing it for a week or so, but I can't see them saying no

One persons trash is anothers treasure, put it on Freecycle and Freegle now if it's not being done for another week or so  - someone might want or need it.
