Some people just cannot be helped.
  • Don't tell us he's agreed to pay that?

It's far more than at a hearing... hundreds more.
I said that. I said to offer £750 & say this is all you can afford. He sent that & they said the date we asked to pay (early next month) is the right before the hearing so it’s too late and that they won’t accept anything below £935. I told him to tell them to stuff it and go court. He’ll have to pay that even if he loses so he may as well chance it and try get off with it and win it

Indeed. Do you think you stopped him paying?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes. He said he’s going to decide tonight. I said to him to just take it to court. If they aren’t going down to anything lower and won’t budge. £965 was their “lowered offer” does that mean they’ll seek more at court? I think he’s worried he’s going to have to pay like 1400 at court as the CCJ 6 claim amount was something like £1400

He’s just worried about standing up in court when it’s all against him & I’m not there to speak on his before.
I've not re-read the whole thread so may have missed something, but do you understand that you or another person can be there and can speak on his behalf?

A quick read of the Lay Representatives [Rights of Audience] Order 1999 should explain it.

Probably no need to 'stand up' at all.   :)

    Have you seen this video?...

Just three or four people sitting round a table having a discussion.
Didn’t see this. I understand the lay order but am away on the court date. Currently trying to move things around!! Appreciate your help with this :)

It's the amount of the claim plus the hearing fee. That's what they will try for.

Obviously they won't be trying to claim £965 and that sum cannot be mentioned. Offers marked WPSATC can't be discussed at the hearing until it comes to costs.  That's what the heading means in their emails.

Obviously he's aiming for nothing, or maybe one PCN + basic court fees and no interest and no fake 'DRA fee' add-ons.

Whoever appears at this hearing with him needs to read the room well and if it looks like the Judge isn't with him, they need to concentrate on damage limitation (remove all the interest and all the fake fees because no fees/damages were ever incurred and they represent 'double recovery' ... all this argument is already explained in his defence and WS but he must also voice it.

Don't expect the Judge to have read everything.

Don't talk to their legal rep in a side room beforehand. They will try to pressure him.

  • Hi @Coupon-mad - I awaiting and update on what was going on with my friend as he went silent. I prompted him as thought we were fighting it in court. He told me he paid it off (£965). Is what it is but hes
going through a stressful period at the moment given his circumstances. I’m a bit gutted and know if it were me I’d of gone court but I can see his point. I do feel like he’s been robbed but whatever. Lesson learnt hopefully for future parking for him.

@ke@KeithP & everyone else - thank you all for the help. Appreciate everything you’ve done for me in the past and winning my cases. Hate to see it end like this for my friend but can’t help someone who doesn’t want to help himself!!
