Eternity Parking Charge

Hi,

In mid-July, my car overstayed in Swansea Parc Tawe car park. The driver of the car was taking their daughter to a birthday event where they used Odeon Cinema and went to a restaurant in the same area shortly afterwards. I don't believe the driver knew about being able to key in your registration to extend the number of hours permitted for parking. As such, they have now been fined.

I know that usually I'd be submitting a one-time fits all, but should I look to beef it up with some facts too or not bother? I ask because I appealed for two parking tickets a few years ago with one-size-fits all and added some more into it describing the circumstances (plus ruffling a few feathers) and they got quashed right away.

Any guidance is appreciated, thanks!

Try it again. You'll know from the number parking tickets you're racking up that it will likely be rejected, so you've little to lose. Just don't inadvertently identify the driver.

Maybe avoiding private car parks (or more closely reading the terms and conditions) in future might help you avoid all these charges; council car parks are much more fairly managed.

    Sure, I'll get on it.

I definitely take your point on board. I am in the process of trying to explain to the other driver to be more attentive, but it's an uphill battle. The issue is that the cars are in my name so they're less likely to pay attention. Although it's good to know that these are fought, it's tiring to do constantly. Especially for other people!

    Eternity Fire & Security Ltd

Their address is a PO Box in Swansea and seem to be local here. How thoughtful of Parc Tawe to support our local businesses!

Okay just spoke to the driver, they did actually put their reg number into the system at Odeon. However, still managed to get the ticket.

Having looked at similar threads, I found Parking ticket from Alliance Parking (private) — MoneySavingExpert Forum which is exactly what happened to the driver in my case - exact same place and scenario.

Strange, it seems that there's a disconnect between Odeon's system and the parking firms. I'll try to also reach out to Odeon but based on that link above, they did not cancel the OPs.

At some stage, if the "driver" is being irresponsible, it may be worth transferring liability for the PCN to them and let them see and deal with the consequences of their actions. You certainly appear to attract PCNs like flies to poo.

When "reaching out", remember to reach out to as high up the management food chain as possible. Be robust in your complaint about the obvious disconnect/failure in their systems and demand that they get their agents to cancel the unjust PCN.

    "Eternity Fire & Security Ltd"

I was confused by the article dated 29.8.22:-

    https://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/shopping/rules-parking-swanseas-parc-tawe-24862134

    "
Discussing the change in the management of car park from Alliance Parking to Eternity Security Limited, the spokesman added: "In line with best practice we competitively tender the contracts periodically and we tendered and appointed Eternity to manage our car park going forward.""

Eternity Security Limited is a completely different entity to the actual ppc involved.

It doesn't matter that the Odeon refused to help; even more reason to complain!

But we've mentioned Parc Tawe recently in the News & Media articles thread and the Odeon isn't the landowner.  Complain in writing immediately to the Odeon AND the site landowner named in recent news articles.

PCN cancelled after one size fits all appeal (but also adding in key information). I attached the drivers bank statements showing spending there as genuine customer and explained that the driver is adamant that the reg was inserted at Odeon.

I hope this helps anyone else at Parc Tawe (or otherwise)
