Small single beds for adults?

So in my room, the staircase doesn't have a lot of space so I can have
Two x single beds there which makes a superking
Would it be worth getting small single beds for adults instead? Purely because I don't "need" a super king, but a king and a bit still seems kinda nice
Not sure if small single beds are really suited for adults?

For what it's worth this is a popular option in some European countries. Maybe it's just in the hotels but in Austria and Germany many hotels have 2 mattresses side by side on the bed to make what must be a superking size. It makes it easier for the staff to change the fitted sheets. They also normally have single duvets so both people have there own and there's none of the tugging back and forth that happens with a huge duvet. It also means that, should you wish, you could have a lightweight duvet and your sleeping partner a heftier one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. 2 small singles (2' 6") =1 King size (5'). Fine for 2 adults as a double, not so good as singles.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

We have a super king size bed, and when it was delivered I made an off the cuff remark to the chaps manoeuvring it up my standard 1930s semi detached staircase about how tricky it was. They replied that bigger beds were actually easier, in their opinion, because the bigger ones are designed to be separated into smaller parts for shifting, and single beds remain stubbornly in one piece.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. Have you looked into zip and link mattresses? Might be a better option for the stairs: https://www.dreams.co.uk/zipandlink-mattress-guide0

What style of bed are you looking for, most wooden frames arrive as flat packs these days.0

One adult to one narrow single depends on how you sleep - most camp beds are even narrower and I sleep in one just fine but some people don't! Two beds side do side depends on how they fit together - you would probably want beds designed for this, not ones that leave a gap.
