Pre-reg car - too good to be true

Hello,
I'm planning to test drive a pre-reg car with 20 miles on the clock, 23 plate, no previous owners. It's being sold by a manufacturer affiliated dealership under the manufacturers approved used car scheme and is 25% cheaper than if bought new. It seems like a good deal but is there any catch here? Is there anything in particular I should be aware of when considering buying a pre-reg?
Thanks

Not unusual. Old reg, and plenty of models have big discounts from the COVID madness prices.

Probably no catch. I bought a brand new Volvo in 2018 which was pre reg
The model had a facelift that year hence the discount
Similar to your situation paid 25k instead of 33k with only 26 miles on clock.
It's a win win with the lack of depreciation1 -
Thanks all, the model has recently been discontinued so I guess the dealers and manufacturer are keen to clear out any residual stock.0

Sounds very mse to me. What model is it and who's selling?1

My current car was a pre-reg, discounted by approx 25%, I have friends/colleagues who’ve bought under similar circumstances - it’s not really unusual
The warranty, date service/MOT will be required etc will be from the date of registration, not from purchase, but the saving should more than compensate from the lost time.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

The only 'snag' I found was that the first service was due 12 months from registration, only 7 months from when I bought it.0

Just have a good look at the paintwork. Cars do get damaged during delivery sometimes - just make sure you're happy with what you're buying.
Like others, I've had a good deal buying pre-reg.0 -
Is it an outgoing model, shape.
I got a Peugeot 5008 in December 2016. New suv shape was coming out in 3 months.
Pre reg, 3 months old with 8 miles on the clock after my test drive.
Book price new over 27k, I paid £14,350 with front and rear mats, a boot liner and tank of diesel.
Near on a 48% discount.
Look to see if you can find another one anywhere and get the dealers to bid against each other.
Here is an old deal i almost bought.

you said the car has had no previous owners but if it is pre registered then it has a current keeper. so at present the V5 will show number of former keepers none
but when the car is registered to you it will say number of former keepers one1 -

As for the OP, it is worth comparing the pre-reg price for the deal that has been seen against broker prices for the same car brand new.0
