o2 sim through comparison site?
My 24 month o2 contract finishes middle of this month and the last payment was made on 1st August. I was buying a new iPhone in that deal and as that’s now paid for, I’m free to look around for a new SIM only deal. o2 have offered me to stay on my 10gb at £27 per month 😂. Yet even the o2 website is offering 25gb for £20. What planet are they on? And should I cancel the £27 Direct Debit as I don’t want them to take another £27?
Anyway, I went into my local o2 shop and pointed out to the guy that I can buy an o2 SIM through uswitch of 15gb (plenty for me btw) for £8 per month. Ah, the bloke said, it’s not really o2, uswitch are selling that through a ‘middle man’ company (whose name escapes me). Surely it will work on the o2 network though? It would be ridiculous if it didn’t. Has anyone bought through uswitch (or any other ‘middleman’). If I go with uswitch, do I need a PAC to keep my number? I’m guessing not as I won’t be changing network?
thanks in advance for any advice.

Do not cancel any direct debit. You are liable to the payment until you PAC out or give them 30 days notice to cancel.
Ignore what the salesman saying, even you sign up with third party company, it is O2 providing the service. It is like CPW or phones4u in the old days. (it is £8 for 30GB BTW)
If you want to keep with O2 network, do a "PAC dance" i.e. PAC out to PAYG, then PAC back to O2

Once you are out of contract, you'll be able to go through a comparison site and apply a new sim only deal to your existing O2 account / number - as part of the checkout flow you'll be able to log in and apply the deal to an existing number.
No need to do anything with PACs and your existing direct debit mandate can be used.

I’ve just noticed the MSE link for an o2 deal, 10gb for £5 per month, 12 month contract. Sounds just the job, and has taken me to the o2 website itself. How is such a great deal possible, can’t see anything close to it on the regular o2 website (i.e. not going via the MSE link)0

Do you have the My O2 app? Worth looking at the Change Tariff page, I've got 30GB for £8/mth this way currently.1

Thanks FL……I had a look at the Change Tariff page in the app and their best offer is 10gb for £30!! Think I’ll go with the MSE link.0

I managed to grab it the other week, it seems to come up now and again however. Failing that try uswitch1 -
I grabbed the £5/10GB deal myself a few weeks back and the change tariff option in the App offers me £9/25GB, £16/Unlimited or £10/40GB.0

Thanks FL & JSm…… yes, that o2 deal via MSE has been pulled, so MSE should really remove that now from their PAYG best buys table.
I can’t fathom why o2 would think anybody with half a brain would go for a 10gb for £30 p.m. offer? It says: “Peace of mind for only £30 per month” 😂. Uswitch it is then.0 -
OK, the plot thickens. Have now decided not to stay with o2, they have dodgy data coverage in my area. Phone calls are generally ok. Have been gauging friends and neighbours opinions and the general consensus is that EE is the way to go in my area.
So I guess I’ll need a PAC. If I go through the comparison site process, will I get the option to order a PAC as well as a new SIM along the way? Who will inform o2 that I don’t want to carry on with their network?
MSE_James……… you say “once you are out of contract”. So I have to wait until then and therefore might be without my phone for a day or two until the new SIM arrives? I can live with that!0
