And if they don't deliver to Northern Ireland at all, why do they call it the "UK" mainland rather than the "GB" mainland?
Above that line it is typically more like £18-£22 due to the distances between drops on the final delivery run (Aberdeen city tends to an exception due to the volume of parcels for the oil industry that is centred there).
The economy carriers don’t charge as wide a price range, but will take 3-5 days and deliver at their convenience.
Its a PITA but not sure the rest of our customer base should suffer because some people decide to live in spectacular scenery and away from the very dense population….0 -

And the lack of consistency - I've seen ones which lump all PA postcodes into that category, which includes areas which are basically Glasgow suburbs. Even the ones above include the Aberdeen commuter belt.0 -
When I lived in Caithness it was a nightmare.
Postcode was KW for Wick, because WK was already used elsewhere. But couriers assume it is Kirkwall and insist you do not live on the mainland but on an island.
It doesn't matter what you say, they will not believe you live on the mainland.
Couriers based in England excluded north of Perth as their vans only went that far and the packages had to change couriers to come further. But, when that happened , they no longer had access to tracking.
PA postcodes include Argyle and Bute which includes islands so again a problem for delivery.
Couriers include whole postcodes rather than checking individual postcodes.0 -

No amount of arguing over acceptance is going to make that delivery cost the furniture company any less. Deliveries to NI have to go on a boat, I can say from experience if it's furniture and it's going on a boat it's going to cost them a small fortune to send it. They can't force you to pay the £100 but they can cancel your order and might just do that if the item doesn't support the additional delivery cost.
