Travel insurance for daughter travelling abroad with friend's family

Options
My daughter is going abroad with her friend and her friend's parents. I am trying to find travel insurance but as she is 17 I can't find a policy that covers her travelling without us. Last year I bought a family one then found out after the holiday that it wouldn't have paid out in the event of a claim as she was travelling with friends.
Please does anyone have a solution to this? This must happen all the time!

Can she (pay to) be added to the friend's parents' policy?

Just google "travel insurance children", there are loads of providers!
Alternatively, if you have/need an annual family policy, some of these cover your children when travelling without you, others don't, so look for ones that do. But only worth it if you need a family policy for yourselves anyway.
Make sure you write a letter giving permission to take your child abroad
