Hi,

Hope someone can help, I have friends PC. He asked me to take a look as it wouldn't come on. I assumed if it wasn't turning on it would be a PSU problem. But having had a look it does switch on. With it actually switching on, but no display getting to the monitor I thought it might have been a problem with the on-board graphics so I installed my spare graphics card, still no luck. Tried a different monitor, no joy.

So it powers up, but that's about it, no post beeps, no keyboard light, nothing,

Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Thanks.

Agree with above try and see if you can access the motherboard bios usually as the computer is starting you press dependant on make the escape key or one of the function keys.
    How old is the computer.

I've already tried accessing the bios, no joy.

The PC is around 15 months old.

  • worth a try re the bios which makes it look like its terminal as banger9365 indicated.
With the power off take the cover off what's it like inside is it full of dust could it have overheated?, while inside remove and then reattach all connections on the board you have nothing to loose.Remember and earth yourself before starting
I remember opening up a computer and you would have thought it was being used down a coal mine. It was exhaust fumes and dirt the pc was located on the office floor in a garage externally it was clean, inside was another matter.

It might be worth trying to clear the CMOS, then seeing if you can get into the BIOS. Its also doing what malmute says, a clean up and reconnection.

PC has been cleaned regularly so was pretty dust free. Reattached all the connections, still no joy. Oh well, guess I'll have to pass on the bad news.

    Thanks for the replies.
