Lyca mobile introductory offers – card expiry warning

To warn other forum users, if your credit card expires during the period of your Lyca introductory offer and they are unable to charge you to auto-renew your ‘bundle’, you will not be able to update your account with the new expiry date and renew the bundle. I received an email from Lyca advising that my card had expired and that I should contact customer service. I first tried, without success, to update the card expiry date in the app and on the website, and then waited 25 minutes to speak to a person at customer services only to be told that they would not renew at the 1 penny per month rate as my offer had expired. Missed out on the last two months of the deal. Lyca SIM now removed and new Lebara one ordered with a huge increase in cost to 99 pence per month!

Other than that I have been happy with my Lyca experience. Worked in France this month, and the app provides basic info about usage.

There has been discussion about these issues with lost/stolen cards but not about expired cards, so this is interesting. Most companies are able to carry over payments when a new card is issued if there is no suspicion of fraudulent activity. If lyca cannot then it would be nice to know beforehand that you need to update card details when you receive a new card.

Yesterday, i spent about 5 hours trying to do just that after bank card was lost.
Add the fact that the UK android app doesn't work and half the links on the website also didn't was compounded waiting over 40 minutes for an agent to answer my call to their customer service line.
There i was informed, (which took some difficulty due to not be able to understand the agent / combined with a delay on the line), that they wouldn't/ couldn't allow the card to be updated and I would have to go on a 'new' package with a different mobile number.

Not wanting any of that, I then informed them I would be leaving and requested a PAC code.
After receiving a PUK code instead, decided to just text for a PAC one via 65075.......

Guess who got a phone call from their retentions department, (with the delay that was on the line again?) only 10 mins later......
This agent promised the app would be fixed within 2 hours along with the website and I would be able to update my card. All I had to do was withdraw the PAC code, which I declined to do.

App still isn't working 24 hours on, nor the website links or the option of being able to update the card.

The phone service that Lyca Mobile offered was good, but the App, website and customer service are atrocious... meaning I am also going back to Lebara with the rest of the family!
Damned if you do.....Damned if you don't !?!
